300

Fifty quid for some wilde text

A monthly writing competition is not for the verbose, or the clumsy of the thumb, for the challenge is to tap out a story in 300 characters or less – and that includes the spaces.

As if that’s not tough enough, the story must be entertaining, grammatically correct – and readable. Those that pass the judge’s critical eye will win the text-messaging scribe a quick £50 .

The competition is organised by Just Write and WILDE, and every month there is a different theme. Visit the site at www.wilde2000.org.uk for previous winning submissions and the latest theme. May’s theme was ‘erotic’ whilst the previous month focused on ‘holidays’.

Entries must be made from UK mobile phones and cost £1 plus the cost of a standard text message. There is no limit on entries, beyond the author’s pocket that is.

To enter text “FICTION” to 82085 followed by a space then the story to a limit of 300 characters. A confirmation if its receipt will be sent, and later a text message notifying that a winner has been selected. The winning entry and the best of the rest will be published on the site.
