Win 500 Quid

Collect your thoughts and enter

POETS are invited to submit small collections of their work to the 2009 Templar Poetry Pamphlet & Collection Competition to potentially win a cash prize of £500 and publication of their work.

The four winning collections will be published in pamphlet format and launched at the Derwent Poetry Festival in October 2009. The four winners will also receive the cash prize and have the opportunity to submit a full collection for publication.

Around 40 poets who enter, but don’t win, will see one of their poems published in the competition anthology, and all writers submitting to the competition will receive a complimentary copy of the volume, which is set to retail for £8.

“The competition is now in its fourth year and offers an excellent opportunity for writers to have their work published,” said Alex McMillen, Templar Poetry’s Managing Editor.

“Our pamphlets and collections have been widely praised for their quality. Mike Barlow’s winning 2008 pamphlet was a Poetry Book Society Winter Choice and many of our published poets have enjoyed further recognition of their work in the Forward Prize, Faber and Picador anthologies, major single poem competitions and publication by other imprints.”

The submission fee for entering the competition is £18 (or its Euro equivalent) and the closing date for submissions is 30 April 2009. The judge is Tim Liardet.

Submissions should be sent to: Templar Poetry, 2009 Pamphlet & Collection Competition, PO Box 7082, Bakewell, Derbyshire, DE45 9AF.
