Birthday Present
By Mark Cantrell
On my birthday,
I was given,
Brand-spanking new
And shiny,
A life of my very own.
I never used it.
It stayed on the shelf
And there it remains today,
Not shiny now, but dusty.
You see,
I’ve never understood
How
To switch it on,
Let alone
How to make it
Work.
